A police officer who battled the rioters in the Capitol remaining month was once stunned by the racist slurs hurled at him, he stated in an emotional interview Monday on ABC’s “Just right Morning The usa.”
“I were given known as a [racist slur] a pair dozen occasions … protective this construction,” stated Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn. One girl spewing abuse was once dressed in a “crimson MAGA blouse,” he recalled.
“Is that this The usa? What the hell simply came about?” he requested a fellow officer when it was once over.
“I were given offended, I were given unhappy, I were given harm,” Dunn stated.
“Everyone needs to mention that it was once about politics — however [there] was once a lot of other folks in that crowd that had been racist,” added the 13-year police veteran.
“They beat cops with Blue Lives Topic flags. They fought us. They’d Accomplice flags within the U.S. Capitol.”
When he noticed the Blue Lives Topic flags, Dunn concept: “We were given dozens of officials down … and you were given the nerve to be maintaining a Blue Lives Topic flag?”
Amid the chaos, he was once gasping for breath within the pepper spray and endure mace, with blood on his knuckles, Dunn recounted. At one level he was once so conquer by means of what was once taking place that he broke down in tears.
Dunn stated police had been combating individuals who had been clearly “ready for a combat,” with fuel mask, bulletproof vests, two-way radios and frame armor. “They had been in a position to move,” he stated. “I used to be scared. I used to be completely scared.”
He added: “We had our weapons out … and I’m pondering: ‘Most of these other folks available in the market, they’re armed, too.’ And I’m like: ‘I’m gonna get shot. They’re gonna take me out.’”
They “had been terrorists,” Dunn stated. “They attempted to disrupt this nation’s democracy — that was once their function. And what? Y’all failed,” Dunn stated.
